I ORDERED FISH AND IT WAS DEFINITELY FOOD POISONING BECAUSE I ENDED UP IN THE BATHROOM ALL NIGHT FROM 8PM TILL ALMOST MIDNIGHT, SICK AS A DOG. HORRIFIC ABDOMINAL PAIN. THERE IS NOTHING GREAT ABOUT THIS PLACE AT ALL. I NEVER WENT BACK.

Anyone rating Andrea's less than 3 stars is not all there! Excellent food, service and price. A+

Andreas excels at service and a gracious welcome. Food is consistently wonderful, including the innovative specials (they sometimes feature inharmonious flavors, but by and large they are the best deal in town for quality ingredients and HUGE portions. The kitchen is very creative with these, and I have had some superb preparations that would run 30 dollars at other area venues). Fries are the best anywhere, and the ambiance in this neighborhood eatery has a European feel, a real standout in All-Dash-You-Dash-Can-Eat Providence. A full-service bar, and the ability to order from casual to upscale in the same place, plus Greek specialties done right -- sounds like perfection. P.S. Wait staff and host have delivered never less than outstanding service in perhaps 80+ visits over the past several years. Love this place, and I am a hard to please food and service professional from the land of 5-star restaurants.

We have gone there several times to use a coupon purchased on Restaurant.com. First time matr'd. said it was a holiday so he couldn't honor it. It actually was the day BEFORE Valentine's day on a Sunday. I guess its a holiday for him! Second time it was an ordinary Sat. night, same guy said "no" again because they do not honor on Fri. and Sat. nights. They do not mention this at all on the coupon. When finally used the coupon, waitress added her gratuity which should have been 18%, I'm not sure how she figured it out, but it was more than that. Food was OK, our lamb chops were over cooked, and when asked for a side of yogurt sauce to help eat them they even charged us for it. We spent 150 dollars and they had the nerve to charge 75cents for the dam sauce.
Needless to say the matre'd should take a course on dealing with people.

My boyfriend and I have gone to Andrea's just about every week for the last year, and we always have a great experience. The food, atmosphere and pricing are all fantastic.

With average restauraunt atmosphere for the area, the food and especially the service at Andrea's leave more than something to be desired. The manager has been extremely rude and unfriendly on numerous occasions. Also, our waitress was by far the most unpleasant and rude waitress that I have ever encountered. The food is overcooked and lacking in flavor, freshness, and quality. To top it off this restauraunt is extremely overpriced. For this area of providence there are so many more quality restaurant choices! Don't bother going to Andrea's on Thayer St!

Enjoyed our visit. Food was very good, service was friendly and helpful, price was modest for the high quality of the meal. Paid twice as much one day later on Federal Hill for similar quality.

i am shocked and more than a little bit saddened that fewer people have taken the time to review this Thayer st. staple. The food is terrible...and before I delve into details...I must admit I used to be employed there.
I was treated terribly.
My only 'benefit' was that I was offered 20% off all menu items.'
Needless to say that, on the off chance I actually got a break, I went right next door to Antonio's for a slice.
I suppose it didn't help that the rodent problem was so inherent that the elder staff actually gave them names.

Please, unless you are a fan of the bubonic plague...never, EVER order the baklava.

It's the only dessert they make in-house.
We used to cut servings in the morning.

One a.m. I went to go cut our famous baklava when I was abruptly confronted with my G.M. who took the tray, gave it a good shake into the waste bin and said, "There you go!"

I was confused.

I said, &*^%!!!
You just shook all the nuts into the trash.

She said, "Those weren't nuts. That was rat crap".

True story people.
And if you think that is bad....

Overall a fairly decent restaurant; it's better to sit outside during spring/summer/early fall months to enjoy the Thayer Street atmosphere. The inside of the restaurant has a dark ambiance. I've never had issues with food or service here, and I've been going to this location for 6 years now, at least a handful of times a year. It's the closest to Greek cuisine we'll find in these parts; so I'll take it!

I been enjoying Greek food here for 10 years.
As good as the Greek food I had while sailing the Greek Islands a few years ago.
Its excellent whether its a snack appetizer, sandwich for lunch or dinner. The Specials are always awesome.
Wine prices are very reasonable with their house Greek red or white wine is under $5 and very good.
I asked our waitress last week and its been open for 43 years.

We had a book club dinner at this place. I have no idea what these negative reviewers are talking about. The food was excellent, the place was clean, and we actually got a chuckle out of the service b/c the waiter came by so many times to see how we were doing. I loved it.

The waitress added on money to my tip! this is outrageous! I cant believe that this happened. I would never think about going back to this restaurant again. And the sad thing is, i liked the food there and i had a good time. To add onto it, the lights flickered the whole time we were there.

We waited 20 minutes for a table when there were clearly open ones, then sat for another 15 minutes hoping for a waitress to appear. She took our orders right away and we hoped our luck had changed. Alas. The saganaki cheese dish was served without bread or pita, and when we had the nerve to ask for something to dip in the cheese, the maitre'd mocked us from eight feet away and hoped we wouldn't notice. We found a bug in the garnish of the saganaki and my dining companion found a bit of fish - which no one ordered - in her water glass. Perhaps we should have savored the fish in the water, because everything else was drastically underseasoned. DON'T GO HERE.

I just went there tonight and had the worst experience of customer service. I ordered a sausage sandwich and absolutely could not stomach it, the cucumber sauce was disgusting. So I politely and nervously asked the waitress if there was anyway I could replace the sandwich wwith pasta. I assumed that the sandwich was going to be taken off the bill. By the time the bill came the sandwich was on there I asked to speak to the manager and he absolutely insisted i knew what was on the menu and what i was ordering. Then said the sandwich would stay on the bill. I couldn't even explain the situation or that next time the waitress should inform the customer they would be paying for two plates. So if you want to eat on Thayer I strongly suggest you skip Andrea's and go across the street to Johnny Rockets or down the street to Paragon. I also work in a profession (retail) where customer service is key therefore I was shocked to be treated like this.

The supervisors in this place aren't that professional or knowledgeable. The waitstaff is also neglectful. I went with a party of 9 and they only filled our waterglasses once, at the beginning of the dinner when first seated. If the tip wasn't included it'd be much lower.

Great omelets!

The times I have been there, the owner, Nick was very rude and extremely curt. He doesn't know how to run a business, nor react to people's needs. I think he is a coke head and I wouldn't recommend this restaurant strictly due to the poor management skills.

Thank you

The last review was by a competitor. This place has a European style service that is polite and knows the customer is the boss while not being obsequious. We have never been there without be smiled at, seated and made sure everything we need is taken care of. The specials are always delicious if a bit heavy and they make the best fries in town.

dreadful! it was the worst experience i have ever had. the service is bad the food is worse and the place is dirty! it reminded me of paragon only dirtier dont go to either

review_stars 11/12/2007 - MenuPix User
Dont waste your time or your money. It is not good food. The drinks are over priced, and they charge extra for everything....Im surprised that they dont charge for mustard. Paragon is a much better restaurant!

Horrible, the restaurant is dirty! Just look around the ceiling fans are gross. Its just not a good place, it would be gone if it werent for Thayer St.
