Tonite was my first time to the infamous home of the 3-lb lobster. BIG MISTAKE!!!! Lived in RI all my life and never came to Carrie' Got there are 4:30 and was told they had only one 3-lb left, rest reserved for a party and their shipment had not arrived yet, REALLY7 ON A SATURDAY NITE for what you are famous for???

Oh well, I got the lobster, husband fried clams. I ordered FISHERMAN STYLE and it came as baked stuff with claws attached. Pointed this out to the waitress (extremely polite, very nice). She took it back and the chef just broke the claws off and sent it back to me. REALLY??
Was not planning to be cracking claws tonite, wanted to be lazy and just eat. Oh well, it was good but WAY TOOOO much stuffing on top. My husband's fried clams were overcooked, huge portion though, fries not greasy.

all in all was edible but left a lot to be desired and would definitely NOT go back, SORRY

I LOVE THIS PLACE! I am 47 years old and have been eating at all of the great restaurants in Rhode Island for the past 30 years and Carries is my favorite. I love the weekly specials. There is plenty to choose from and they coordinate with everything that is fresh and in season. I hear this every week from my children, "LETS GO TO CARRIES FOR A LOBSTER, SWORDFISH AND CLAMS CASINO!"

zero star it`s what they deserve...horrible service by 2 girls from Begin to the end...to over priced, and when I ask for the special butter mix that is sad on the menu, was told that became to expensive and they are not serving it(but still on the menu, false advertise) on the end, party of 5 and they automatic charge gratuity on the bill,18% plus tax on gratuity,I will complain with restaurant regulations I don't think it`s right, will see about that,we take people a lot for entertaining, but this place is no long in our list...word of the mouth is the best advertise, and the worst too...carries ,never ever again

I went last night with a friend and ordered the baked seafood sampler. It was horrible. They neglected to put the clams casino on the plate, the scallops were so hard and everything tasted like it had been frozen and reheated. Needless to say the prices were also outrageous for that area. $21.95 for my meal and then it was nasty. They will never see my face in there again. Giving it a one star is being generous

Every time i eat here or go in for a drink, I have a great time. The food is the best around. Quality service, great people serving and cooking, and the menu is diverse enough to satisfy the fussiest person out there- even me. Go and enjoy this place often.

Giving one star was very difficult. My sister took me there (I am from Maryland) and the food was WAY overpriced and lousy. What is with the male server I think him name was Jay? He is cocky and has no clue what customer service is about. He has an poor attitude with customers. This will never even become a two star restaurant. The swordfish portion was hardly a child's portion at best and overpriced. The veges were mushy and portion was skimpy. Sorry but I cannot go back to this place. Heard the fish n chips are good but the rest is a different story. Poor at best.

The worst EVER! The food was over cooked, flavorless and OVER PRICED. Everything was lousy. It is sad to say, everything was truly lousy. @ 4 years ago this place used to be pretty good. But STAY AWAY!
I believe I got sick on the clams two of us NO booze $106.00 and we did NOT (want to) finish anything on our plates

Nothing special at all. The "famous" stuffies are full of bread crumbs and not much else - the taste - stale bread. I had a baked sampler which comes with stuffed shrimp, stuffed mushrooms, sole and scallops. All of the fish was overcooked. The stuffing was also on the sole and the scallops making everything taste the same. Nothing tasted fresh and for the prices on the menu I expected a lot better quality.

it was just OK they're trying to be like Venus De Milo. My lobster had one shrimp and a couple of little scallops for that price should have been a lot better. NOT EVEN CLOSE!!!!!!!!!

Haven't been to Carrie's in years. Used to go there weekly. The food is very good, BUT, one night I ordered, as usual, little necks on the half shell. They give you 8. On this night, however, they were big and I guess the chef/owner (he was cooking that night) decided to save money and took 4 of these large little necks and split them in half. Half of the shell had most of the meat and the other half had just about nothing. He tried to pass these off as 8, instead of 4 (and you could see the shells "fit" together). I should have said something at the time and didn't. It's one thing if a restaurant has a bad night with food that isn't great, it's another when they out and out cheat you--and we were very steady customers. I hope it was worth losing two good customers over a few pennies worth of little necks.

The hospitality and service my wife and I received at Carrie's was awesome! When we arrived we had no idea what to expect since we are from Chicago and we were referred to Carrie's by a store right down the road. We were just looking for an affordable place to enjoy some fresh seafood, but after talking to a local couple that were there celebrating their 40th anniversary we knew we had to be at the right place. As we were talking to the couple the waitress brought out 2 massive 3lb lobsters to a table and I nearly fainted, seriously. Thinking they had to easily be over $100.00 for a stuffed lobster I had to ask the couple next to us. They said in Boston it would easily be that or more, but at Carrie's they were $48.99. At that point I knew I was getting the lobster, but we wanted to start with an appetizer. We selected the mussels and they were amazing. They came stacked high in a white wine butter sauce with a hint of garlic for under $8 dollars. My wife decided on the seafood pie which was under $18. Her pie was filled with sole, scallops, shrimp, and calms. It was just beautiful displayed and tasted incredible. My 3lb lobster was better than advertised stuffed with all the above and Carrie's special seafood stuffing. To simply put, my wife and I were highly impressed with every aspect of Carrie's Seafood Restaurant and recommend them for diners in all price ranges since it was outstanding seafood for an extremely reasonable price.

review_stars 08/27/2009 - Very disappointed
Went to Carrie's last night for take out, the food was terrible, scallops were not fresh, had a fishy taste to them, the stuffies are NOT award winning, taste like they use stove top stuffing, the white chowder was sour, it was terrible, I eat there at least twice a month, and have never had food like this, well I will not be going there for a LONG time and I do not recommend this place to anyone, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY, In fact a friend of mine is getting married in 3 weeks, we were planning on calling to set up a reservation for a part of 20, but after last night I caller her right away and told her what happened, we will go some place else...

Great night out. My husban and I went out on a Thursaday night looking for a place close by to enjoy a few lobsters. A friend suggested Carries... What an experience! Not only were we suprised that the lobsters were 3lbs. but they were served with mashed potatos, the tastiest roasted carrots, broccoli and beets. Not that we had room but we also shared a dessert, while enjoying an after-dinner drink. Our server, well she was perfect! Very knowledgeable about seafood and the family ran resturant. We are looking forward to our return next week, when our friends who referred us to carries will be joining us.

I almost don't want to say how good this place is because it will be harder to get in. BUT it is a wonderful find. I saw the owner/chef preparing lobster on his Channel 3 Sunday show and decided to give Carrie's a try. The atmosphere is relaxed and informal and the staff are efficient and friendly. The food was wonderful. I went a second time with friends and everyone was very pleased. We ordered lobster and seafood appetizers. I haven't tried the Italian entrees but will return to give then a try soon. If you like unpretetious dining with great seafood this is the place.
