I was disappointed last year when Madison's closed, and was delighted when it re-opened last fall. Since then, I've been there twice.

A friend took me there for a birthday lunch on Dec. 23rd, and I was pleased to see the menu, service, and decor hadn't changed. The food and service were excellent.

Another friend took me to Madison's for dinner last evening. We were there very early, and were impressed at the great service, even though dinner staff had not yet arrived. Our waitress was friendly and efficient, and checked back with us throughout the meal to make sure we were satisfied.

My favorite waiter, Mario, came over to say hello and welcome me back. He even remembered my name, and I was so happy to see that he had returned.

The manager also came over to make sure we had no questions or complaints. I was impressed that he encouraged us to mention anything that wasn't perfect, as he wants to be able to correct any deficiencies.

I had roast beef au jus, which was terrific, a generous portion, cooked exactly as I had specified. My friend had salmon, which he also proclaimed as excellent. Our salads were generous, containing a nice variety of fresh ingredients, and mine came with dressing on the side, as I had specified.

I will return here again whenever I want to go out to dinner in Gatineau with friends. And I will definitely make a reservation for July, when six members of my family will be visiting from Florida.
