After my sister was advised of how great Fraser Cafe was, she decided to take us out for dinner. We arrived for our reservation and were happily seated. After review of the small high priced menu, we waited 10 to 15 minutes before a waiter arrived to take our drink order (the waiter informed us of the specials then left for another 5 minutes before returning to take a drink order). The three of us ordered our food Duck Meatballs & Potato Gnocchi , and Roast Chicken & Pork Belly (for 2), and were informed the chicken would take 45mins to an hour hesitant we accepted the absurd wait time. After such great reviews we thought the food must be worth it, we were sadly mistaken. When the food arrived the visual appearance was impressive even though the chicken arrived on what appeared to be a wooden cutting board. The thought of all the past dishes that were served on and have contaminated the wood is repulsive. Are they aware of the health risks associated with using such a means of presenting their food? If the wooden cutting board was not enough the chicken was still bloody! When questioning the blood and undercooked chicken, I was informed that the chicken was perfectly fine as it is poached until it's brought to temperature then roasted. With such extensive measures I have to question how any blood at all could be left in the chicken. That is if they are telling the truth, or if they are actually poaching the chicken properly? They do through the term chef around but I am left wondering if any chefs work at the cafe or if they are only cooks (there is a difference).
Overall the food was bland, the portions for meals fair, appetizer questionable when taking into account the price.
At the end of the day the bill was discounted, but still overall impressions are not favourable.
