The fish and chips meal with a side of cole slaw at Fish on Fifth in Sidney is truly delightful. The fresh, fried fish paired with the crisp fries make for a satisfying meal, and the waterfront stroll in the charming Sidney area adds to the overall experience.

Been here quite a few times and we've been satisfied.

Tonight however was a different experience. Normally we get four pieces and are stuffed. Tonight we got four pieces and are barely full. I get that we are in challenging times or perhaps we don't have access to the fish portions on the island that we used to (?) but it sucks to pay over $40 and have all of us hungry.

Going to look elsewhere next time

Great fish tender flaky and not greasy. Best yet run by 3 families several generations cooking and serving. Best place for fish and chips!

You used to have the best fish and chips in town. Visited your shop awhile ago and very disappointed at the look of the fish - no batter. Waitperson told me you switched to gf batter!!. The fish tasted good but missed the batter . Told myself I would not be returning. A friend wanted to go for lunch there on Sat., so I agreed. Again no batter on the fish. I also had onion rings - there was batter only on between 1/3 to 1/2
Of the rings and the onion that did not have batter on was burnt. I m sorry I did not have a camera to take a picture. Please go back to your old batter and then place an ad in the paper and I shall return.

Went to fish on fifth today for a take out order. 2 cod & an order of chips. The cod was so dry it was overcooked.The chips were so burned I could not eat them so into the garbage they went. If you want me to come back you have to get a new cook. Someone who knows how to cook fish & chips.

Their salmon and clam chowder is one of the best. I tried several places in Sydney and I still like them the best. I have to go back to United States on Saturday so I will miss this place

My friend and I ordered fish & chips for lunch. My friend was not expecting to get the backbone skeleton of her fish, with very little fish on it. She politely told our waitress what she'd received , even though she was holding the skeleton up to show her, the waitress said she was mistaken; they don't have bones in their fish. That was that and she brought us our bill. Rather than make a scene and complain further, we both decided we were treated very poorly so will never go back there again; and we will tell our story to anyone thinking of going there.

Check your take out orders. Ordered 6 cod ended up with and charged for 6 Halibut. Half the family hates halibut. Been dealing with these people for years and this is the first hiccup we have had.
