Delightful restaurant with scrumptious dishes, we arrived mid-afternoon, waited briefly before being seated. The food, beverages, and service were all superb - the hostess greeted us with a sample craft drink, and our server provided excellent recommendations. Despite the proximity to a bustling road, the food and ambiance on the patio were enjoyable, with the option to purchase frozen meat pies to take home adding to the experience.

Though this pub had come highly recommended, on the night we went the food was a huge disappointment.
The elk tortierre was was overcooked and slightly burnt with a hard, chewy crust. There was nothing in the way of sauce or filling -- I didn't spot anything in the way of an onion or mushroom, as specified on the menu -- just a dehydrated husk filled with hard ground meat. (That it was ground meat was not mentioned on the menu.)
What made it worse was the sides. I counted ten cold fries, and a miserly portion of soggy vegetables.
This, we were told, was a "signature" dish.
I'm now doubly surprised because I contacted the owner and he seemed apologetic and asked me to send in a message about our experience so that he could rectify the situation. That was ten days ago, and I've heard nothing back.
