Used to stop there for twice a year family trips, late 60's to late 70's, growing up. You could buy their sauce at the resteraunt and in a couple of grocers nearby, but they only made up batches for sale every once in a while; my Uncle in Central City had us stop and get as much as we could when we were going through. Everytime we went, the parking lot would be FULL of cars with Chicafgo, St. Louis, Indianapolis, and locals. As a dumb kid, I every once in a while ENTHUSED to Rudy or his wife about how amazing it was, but we saw him less and less as time went on. I grew up, and didn't find my way there again until the early 90's I think, they had a very limited hours posted but were still open? A nearby ngrocery st5ore said they still opened it up once a week, but maybe not any more...the only family member of the right age to run the place wasn't interested, apparently.
The closest I've found to it is to go to Trollingers in Paris, TN; get their sauce and add a LITTLE bit of Heinz Carolina vinegar sweet & Tangy, 4 parts trollinger to one part heinz. but, my tastes buds memory may be off. Truly a massive loss to BBQ culture.
