The coffee here is alright. The staff like to boast about how much better their coffee is than Starbucks, but we all know that you either like Starbucks or you don't. No need to be snooty about it. I came here with my mom once and she ordered a flavored mocha... but was disappointed with the lack of taste.

The atmosphere is decent. There's a little artificial fireplace to give it a little coziness (despite the tall ceilings) and the windows let in a lot of light on those chilly, gray winter days. They sell a few packaged items (teas, etc.) which are displayed on a nice display rack near the counter and there's also a rack for the Riverfront Times and another local freebie paper.

Coming from Seattle, though, I was hoping for a little more from a local coffeeshop. Caffe Avanti doesn't have regular mugs for their "dining-in" patrons - only disposable cups... bad, bad, bad. The staff are welcoming/polite enough, but there's just not the friendliness and openness you'd want in a place you'd like to frequent.
