You've most likely driven past the this restaurant hundreds of times. Most who have experienced it, can't just pass without assessing their appetite. The Charcoal Oven Restaurant has withstood the test of time and the proliferation of sometimes impersonal franchise and chain operations. Worth visiting not only for a nostalgic taste of what a restaurant used to be, The Charcoal Oven provides fine memories and simply great food.
One of the best romantic supper clubs on the north shore, this 60-year-old family-owned restaurant features fresh flowers, and white linen table-service. Founded by Phillip Georgouses, The Charcoal Oven continues to deliver on its tradition under his accomplished daughter Maria. Generational patronage typifies the cliental for good reason. The menu showcases prime steaks, chops, ribs, daily selected fresh fish/seafood, roast duck (call 1 day in advance), and unparalleled greek chicken. The wine list offers value cleverly paired with merit. The full bar harkens back to the days when fashionable cocktails preceded a satisfying dining experience.
Diners often receive a complimentary loaf of fresh-baked bread or fresh vegetables. As one should expect, you will not be disappointed with the food yet you will be surprised by the family friendly atmosphere and outstanding service. Its a great venue for a private party, a romantic occasion, or to have a steak at the bar and enjoy a baseball or football game. The elegant dining room is intimate, welcoming, laid-back, and will prompt you to return regularly!!
The take out ribs are arguably the best kept secret on the north shore, as are the hand-crafted cottage fries. Recent renovations and updates serve the Charcoal Oven tradition faithfully.
