When we went in (Friday, 2/10), there were 5 people there; it was just after noon. We ordered a hamburger and a reuben sandwich. After a half an hour we hadn't received our food. I asked the waitress where it was and she said it would be out in a minute. Sure enough, she comes out with it a couple of minutes later.
The fries were tepid and the sandwiches lukewarm. Not once did she come back to ask if everything was ok, though the place was practically empty. She didn't come over to us in the half hour we were waiting, though she did look our way a couple of times. We decided to take it home since it wasn't very enjoyable since it was cold, so we asked for leftover containers.
When she gave us the bill we told her about the food. She said we should have told her and she could have 'fixed' it, whatever that meant. We said we didn't want to wait any longer than we already had.
The fact she didn't bother to come over to ask how things were showed sloppy service.
The burger and reuben were tasty enough, and the fries were nicely seasoned, but they were almost cold. The price for the burger was over $14, and the reuben was $17--not inexpensive. We've eaten at other places in Brattleboro that aren't as pricey. The slow service and cold food made the experience less than enjoyable, although the two of us enjoyed each other's company, fortunately. If the service had been better we would consider going back, since the food was tasty, if cold.
And yes, I have waitressed.
