The Chicagoland area is filled with Italian beef establishments, some better, some worse. This was definately the worst. My wife ordered an Italian beef sandwich with mozzerella, which came with fries. It was incredibly expensive as it cost almost $9.00 with tax (although we got no receipt), was only about 5 inches long, dry, and the cheese was barely melted. But her primary complaint was that there was some sort of pink mystery meat mixed in, possibly ground Italian sausage which my wife is allergic to due to a particular spice in it. It was definately a very different meat than the grey-ish (not even browned)Italian beef that was on the rest of the sandwich. Since she did NOT order a combo nor was too sure about eating the mystery meat, whatever it may have been, she immediately returned it to the store as we had only left 1 or 2 minutes before. The employee that was on duty that day told my wife that she ordered a beef/ sausage combo and got exactly what she asked for, which was poppycock, my wife has NEVER ordered a combo, ever. When my wife disagreed, the employee told her (with a BIG attitude)to stop lying and be happy that she had something to eat, not like starving kids overseas. We are both in our fifties, and have never been treated like that before by anybody. The employee also said that she couldn't believe what people would do for a few free fries, although my wife hadn't even take a single bit of anything before she noticed the strangely pink meat. The employee ultimately refused to refund the money (stating we didn't have a receipt for proof although we just bought it from the same person not 5 minutes before), although nothing was eaten and warned us never to come back again. We heard a few other horror stories about this place when I asked locals, and it turns out that this individual was one of the owners. Everyone should avoid this establishment like the plague.
