I had the pleasure of trying both Italian and French pistachio macaroons, and I found the Italian version to be my favorite due to its unique taste and texture. The chocolate chip cannoli from Modern Pastry blew me away, making it one of my top dessert choices, and I can't stop thinking about how delicious it was!

'Moved to Boston in the mid-seventies and have sampled pastries all over the North End. Mike's Pastry is fine (Bill Clinton thought so), but Modern is where the locals go. Their sfogliatelle is the best I've had. All the pastry is simply great.

Best Cannollis in Boston! I'm from Sicily, birthplace of the cannolli, and I was raised in New York, where there are great cannollis on every corner. Modern has some of the best pastries and cakes around. My parents, who are both extremly picky (since they are excellent cooks themselves) LOVED the cannolli and the cake we bought. Get the cannolli filling and rum cake for a birthday, and you'll never buy a plain birthday cake again!
