When asked for a espresso macchiato, I was given a 16oz dreadful sweet drink when I asked what is was the owner told me macchiato meant chocolate. She wanted me to be happy and said if I asked for a macchiato at any real coffee house this is what I would get. Well look it up, I've ordered this in as many as 4 countries over the past 10 years, really perfect cup? The word macchiato literal translation in Italian is marked or stained. In a cafe drink it is "espresso marked" or stained by milk or sometimes by foamed steamed milk. Always served in a espresso demitasse cup. But wow, make me something else if I want but their point was that I was wrong.
