The breakfast and coffee here are fantastic, making it a perfect choice for a midday meal. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, enhanced by friendly staff and beautiful local art. I especially enjoyed the chicken pesto panini and the hot apple cider, both of which were delicious and memorable.

What happened to this place....

Made a visit to the "newly remodeled" Village Cafe in downtown Bryan today and am now wondering why. Though the place looks better, the food/service have been remodeled as well and not for the better. Sandwich arrived on dry, stale wheat bread. Avocado consisted of a 1/8 x 1/2 inch slice of avocado. When companion asked for more for the three of us whose sandwiches had little to none, the sullen counter person said "extra" could be provided. Where was the normal amount in the first place? Side Greek Salad was soggy and overdrenched in dressing. Accompanying bread was stale as well. Sandwich/chips/salad and a bottled Coke came in at $16. For that price, I can get the abuse elsewhere and more and fresher food.
