The food at Smokin' Jakes is consistently delicious, with standout items like the ribs and fried cheese curds. During a recent visit for the Winter Games, I was impressed by their commitment to social distancing measures. The wings were a definite highlight, and the breakfast options were a pleasant surprise. I look forward to returning for more tasty eats and friendly service at Smokin' Jakes.

On 5/27/2011 I ordered the daily special that was very tasty. The noon special was a generous portion and reasonably priced. I especially enjoyed the real potatoes (not instant) and that the food was home cooked. The time before I ordered a meal that was delicious with plenty of barbecue sauce provided. In fact, I purchased additional barbecue sauce for home use.

Poor excuse for barbecue. On May 24, 2009, I ordered the beef and got two large pieces of boiled chuck roast. Maybe it had a fast kiss with the smoker but I suspect it was given "smoke' flavoring. The potatoes were right out of the freezer and overcooked. The slaw was OK. Service was passable. In all of the barbecue joints I have eaten, the sauce has always been located at the table in sufficient quantities, usually one or more bottles. Jake's dished out sauce in a small cup. Stingy, stingy! Unless you are really drunk and desperate, avoid this place!
