I have eaten at Cool Basil for more than 7 years. I have never had a problem with service, or wait time. They are the best Thai restaurant in the Des Moines, and the equal of many in bigger cities. Obviously over that time I've had many of their entrees and I have never been disappointed. This is definitely a go-to place and I can't recommend it highly enough.

My wife and I went there the first time on 7/22. We waited and waited for our appetizer. When our soup came, I asked where our appetizer was. A few minutes later our waitress came over and said they were out of that appetizer. She placed a different appetizer order in for us. The egg drop soup was loaded with cilantro even though the menu did not mention this. My wife cannot stand cilantro. When we finally got our appetizer, it too was full of cilantro.

Over 25 minutes after ordering our main entrees, they finally came. I had ordered the sweet and sour chicken without the zucchini, When it came, it was loaded with zucchini. They said they would remove the zucchini. When I asked for the manager, a woman said she was the manager and that the sweet and sour did not contain zucchini at any time and that it was cucumbers. Weird menu clearly states carrots and zucchini.

We will never go there again.
