Ordered chicken and vegetable, to pick up. Only vegetables was two very small pieces of broccoli, no pea pods, small slivers of carrots. So disappointed. Flavor was good.

I have loved House of China in Dubuque for over 20 years, and always stop by for lunch when I'm in a hurry. They have healthy food, their service is fast and efficient, and the lunch price is less than eating at a fast food joint.
I have never been disappointed - I had to write this after seeing the strange review online. Apparently the consumer who was "walked out the door" can't spell, or string two words together. They obviously were itching for a fight, and wanted to cause some trouble.
Again - House of China is my favorite place to eat in Dubuque, and their food is fresh, healthy, and no where near the "bowl of salt" the other reviewer mentioned. I highly recommend this restaurant!!!

I"m very surprised by the other review because we have always had good, professional service and consistently good food here. I have also found that they will modify a dish if you ask (add broccoli, brown sauce instead of white sauce, no wontons...) They don't use MSG, which is a concern to a lot of people. It's my favorite place for Chinese food in our town. I prefer it 100:1 over the buffet-types.

HORRRIBLE EXPERIENCE...Wudnt RECOMMEND EVEN IF THE FOOD COMES FREE..
Stay away from this place....If u still wannu go ..ur at your own risk. I really had a real bad experience where we (Myslef and my girl friend) were literally walked out by the owner for mentioning that his food was extra salty. HE COULD HAVE AS WELL SERVED A BOWL OF SALT INSTEAD OF CALLING IT FRIED RICE...

It started with me bringing to the attention of my waitress about extra salt in my food where she acknowledged that I was not the first person to mention that and they have 2 cooks and that one adds extra salt. She said she is going to talk to the owner and see if he can mark down the price or see if we can get a replacement. The owner - man with no class and epitome of rudeness comes to my table and starts arguing about the way I should order and that the food has always been cooked the same way and challenges my ability to cook and run a business. Added to that he says he really doesn't care about customer service and he says I can walk out of the restaurant. While the waiter who has acknowledged the fact comes out in TEARS as apparently the owner has taken her for a ride for being HONEST. She didn't want us to make a big issue as she felt threatened that she would LOSE HER JOB. that was one of the reasons which stopped us from calling the COPS. That to me was "OUT RIGHT POOOOOOR CUSTOMER SERVICE" and "AWFUL TREATMENT OF CUSTOMERS AND HONEST EMPLOYEES"....and top of all this there was absolutely no remorse for his behavior and made sure that HE CHARGED US FOR THE BOWL OF SALT...
