As a sports bar and restaurant, Chapala II is a cozy joint split into two areas: a bar with drinks up front and a dining space in the back near the kitchen. The decor is simple, with just an HDTV playing Spanish sports shows on the wall. When I stopped by for a late lunch on a Friday, the place was empty but the TV was tuned to an American football game, creating a relaxed atmosphere. The chef, who was one of the two women preparing food in the kitchen, recommended the chicken quesadillas and horchata, which turned out to be a delicious and filling meal.
