I finally decided to try the 9.50 sloppy Joey. I figured if it cost that much it has to be good. I ate it in about 6 bites and I'm still hungry. The roll was tiny and the meat was too salty and there wasn't much of it. A friend got the pastrami sandwich and there was even less meat in that. I'm surprises this place is still in business. Go to Sam laGrassa's if you want a real Pastrami sandwich.

Hot Tomatoes is so hit or miss, when they're on they're on but lately every trip has left me more disappointed than the last. It seems as though there is always something missing from every order and the ingredients never match up to the menu description. The new salad containers are also impossible and horrible!

great place!

After eating some mediocre at best food at Hot Tomatoes earlier this year, my bf and I decided to give it another shot last night. We placed an order to take out. When we got home, my $12 salad was missing the fresh mozzarella and avacodo (which is why I ordered the salad). My bf ordered a hot sub that was not worth the $10. Then he found a big long hair in it. Needless to say, we will not return.

We love Hot Tomatoes! The people are really nice and the food is delicious! The love knots are a great addition to anything on the menu!

I absolutely LOVE their creamy tomato soup...you will seriously become addicted after one try. And their sandwich selection is the best in teh North End in my opinion. I only have two gripes. First, it's a VERY small place (only 6 tables or so), so in the winter as people come in and out it's impossible to keep warm. I suggest doing take out in the colder months. Second, every time I go there I get served the soup differently (even though I always order the same thing). Sometimes the soup comes with garlic knots, sometimes not. Sometimes you get croutons, sometimes not. Sometimes they don't give you the choice of creamy v. tomato soup. It's always good but it's a crap shoot as far as the kind of service you get - it really depends on who is serving that day.

The food is amazing. Gourmet take-out or casual eat in. You don't have to sacrifice quality if you want to grab something quick wearing flip flops.
