The chile relleno and carnitas taco plate quickly became my new favorite-each bite bursting with authentic, mouthwatering flavors that make every visit worth it. Despite the tiny size and casual vibe, the friendly, efficient staff and generous portions keep me coming back for more of the best Mexican food on the island.

Lunch at El Maguey is the highlight of my shopping trips to Kailua Kona. The food is great and the service excellent. I can't wait till I go there again!

We used to love this place. It has gotten progressively worse with the new cook. We ate there about a month ago and I got sick from uncooked or spoiled chicken. We decided to chance it again today in hopes that the last cook came back but no such luck. The beans were runny. No more homemade tortillas, the food is mediocre at best. We are not likely to return. We will get our Mexican food fix in Hawi at the Mexican restaurant next to the little market.. I won't give name but it's easy enough to look up...And it's authentic!
