During a recent drive through Winterset, my Dad and I stopped at Bakery on the Square after visiting the John Wayne Museum, where I picked up a sweet roll to enjoy with my early morning coffee. The bakery offers a spacious seating area and a variety of freshly made pastries, including their delicious apple fritters and unique daily specialties like the Orange Blossom. Despite its simple, somewhat dated interior, the friendly service, affordable prices, and homemade baked goods make it a memorable and worthwhile stop.
