KENTUCKY!
All Things Horses
By Glenn Arnette, lll
As I stated once before in previous articles, there is no state like Kentucky. To prove my point Kentucky will host the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in September, 2010. If you have any feelings about horses or desire to see the world’s best all competing in eight different equestrian disciplines, you must make your reservations now or you will not be able to enjoy this once in a lifetime event for the first time in the United States. It is the biggest equestrian event in American history! See the world-class athletes compete on a worldwide stage.
The eight disciplines you will enjoy are Dressage, Driving, Endurance, Eventing, Jumping, Para-Dressage, Reining and Vaulting all scheduled over a 16 day time period. With over 600,000 people from all over the world coming to Kentucky for this event will make housing almost impossible However, you can contact the following for information to register your room requests early. weghousing@shortstravel.com
This FESTIVAL EVENT is a once- in- a- lifetime opportunity. It will also offer the following; i.e., Equine Village, an entertaining showcase of world-class equine demonstrations and organizations, The Kentucky Experience, a 25,000 square foot venue highlighting the unique cultural opportunities and 300 exhibits featuring gifts, collectible, artwork, apparel, tack and more.
This is the important part! TICKETS will go on sale in September 2009. You must check the 2010 Games website. www.alltechfeigames.com/tickets
The Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games will all take place in one of the most beautiful parks in this country. The Kentucky Horse Park is the place to get close to horses in Kentucky. The experience of just being on the grounds will offer an education in horses your will the thrilled about. Have you ever wanted to meet the quinine legends?
At the Kentucky Horse Park you will be able to almost touch some of the past Kentucky Derby winners and more. Experience the special world of the horse throughout the park’s 1200 acres of gently rolling hills with the International Museum of the Horse and the American Saddlebred Museum to mention a few things to do. This park is a REAL family affair. You can get up close to horses, so bring your camera and enjoy those precious pictures. Every heard of Cigar? He is in the Hall of Champions! www.KyHorsePark.com.
With the Kentucky Horse Park housing the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games it certainly proves that nothing will be spared to make this event “the best in the world!”
While in Lexington for a visit or for the games, you must have dinner in one of the most delightful restaurants in the city, Murray’s Restaurant. Owned by the Murray family, this fine casual restaurant features fine Southern cuisine at their indoor or outdoor patio dining areas. You must try the “world famous” fried green tomatoes and have a nice shot of Kentucky bourbon! Delicious!
Whether you plan to attend the Games or just visit the Park sometime during the year, you have made the best decision for any vacation. Go Kentucky! www.kentuckytourism.com
