I don't know if they are still there but they had the very best steak-in-a-sack I have ever had. I don't know what seasoning they used, but the meat was so tender and the juice would soak into the pita. It was absolutely amazing. Whenever I move away from a town, I miss the foods I love and Desert Sand is in my top 5! Never have found another place that with that flavor.

My Grandma, Grace Lemley Gilliland, used to go here twice a week for a slaw dog and a six pack of beer from the liquor store next door. She loved this place so much, when she died in 1980, she requested to be buried at Greenlawn Cemetery right behind it. She wanted us to stop to get a slaw dog & beer and come sit next to her grave and enjoy it.
My Mom, Brother, Wife & I all did so over the years. Thank you for great food & memories.
