The Downeast Deli looks very nice from the outside, however, once you're inside all the good goes downhill VERY fast. The people especially the owner I believe are incredibly rude and doesn't care about anything but getting as much money as possible! I ordered a large Italian, it comes with lettuce tomato and onion, I asked for another veggie and they charged me 50cents for about 6 olive slices. You get 3 slices of ham and 4 pepperoni slices along with one thin slice of cheese which tasted like moldy old cheese. The bread wasn't even Italian! They say the bread is homemade and it's clearly not since it comes out of a grocery store brand bag. I've asked around and the locals seem to steer clear of this place saying the prices are high- which they are $8.00 for my SMALL Italian! Before you go here, ask around and you'll see how discussing this place really is! Although they do have really really good Chocolate cake that they buy from someone.

I try and go there when I'm in the area. I was surprised it was recently sold. The new owners are bringing in their own dishes and pretty much keeping the old menu. Try the Pizza and Mac Salad. They are an older couple with a lot of food expirience. Yum Yum
