China Joy in downtown Bar Harbor, ME offers friendly service, modest pricing, and delicious vegan options. The General Tso tofu, broccoli with fresh ginger sauce, and eggplant fried tofu were all exceptional dishes. The portions were generous, the atmosphere was authentic, and the food was truly satisfying.

This is a Chinese-American restaurant, not a Chinatown authentic Chinese cuisine restaurant. Any rating should keep that in mind. Having said that, my husband and I heartily recommend China Joy's summer menu for Chinese tourists. We like many things from their regular menu, especially their mu-shi dishes. But, the menu for Chinese tourists has interesting seafood offerings and several dishes that appeal to Chinese customers, which gives any customer a unique opportunity to sample dishes as close to authentic as possible in Downeast Maine. We enjoy China Joy!
