We got to the restaurant about 11:25 a.m. I FINALLY got what I wanted at 12:45. I first ordered a chicken dish that came with arugula. I asked for a twice-baked potato in place of arugula. After about 20 minutes, the server came back and said chef couldn’t do that as arugula was a garnish. I could order the potato ala carte, but would have to pay $6. I refused that offer. Others in my party of 6 had been allowed to substitute their side for the potato, but I couldn’t with the chicken. (That made no sense to me!) So I said I would take the salmon which I could get the potato with. I was the last to be served, and when I took a bite of the salmon, it was cold and cooked RARE! No one asked me how I wanted it cooked. I told the server I couldn’t eat that. He took it back, and I waited and waited. I kept asking server about it, and he kept saying it would be out shortly. I finally got it at 12:45! Everyone else had finished, and he was clearing the table when mine was ready. That potato I wanted so badly was overcooked, and the salmon was done but just fair as far as taste. No manager ever came to apologize for the poor service or quality of the food. Another in our party had gotten chili and had to send it back because it was cold. It is quite pricey, and you literally got the piece of meat and a side - no bread or anything. My complaint about poor service is no reflection on the server. He did fine. My complaint is directed toward the chef and management. I will NEVER go back to Alton’s.
