Obviously they were not ready to serve the public. We were the second couple seated, and it took over 40 minutes for our dinner to be served. The waiter did not ask us if we wanted soup or salad, and when the other 3 tables had been served their salads and entrees, ours still had not come out. Shortly thereafter the waiter brought our two dinners out and, not surprising, the gravy on the chicken fried steak had congealed and was luke warm at best. Since we were not in the mood to wait another 40 minutes, we wanted to cancel out meals. The waiter was not available, but a manager came to out table and explained that there was only 1 server who had to take orders, help the cook prepare the meals, and then serve them. She was very cordial, and said that we did not owe anything for our poor experience and hoped that we would give them another chance after they "worked out" any problems of staffing.

Sierra Cafe offers a pleasant dining experience with scenic views of the Sierras and Peavine Mountain, along with a varied menu that includes a delicious Prime Rib open-faced sandwich served with fries and savory beef gravy. The friendly and attentive service, along with generous portions and reasonable pricing, make it a convenient and satisfying choice for a meal while traveling near Reno, NV on i80.
