10/16/2010 - Better places to go in Carroll County
It may have just been my first/last experience, but I was not impressed at all (I understand busy nights make for mistakes)! Here’s the story, we entered the bar on a Friday night around 930pm. The bar was dimly lit with dark walls and only about 9 working TV’s (which I was expecting more/updated TV’s for being a “Sports Bar”, not to mention I was told they had Keno, which is a big seller to my wife and I and they didn’t). Service was slow getting drinks, then had to wait about 10 minutes before even getting menus after our drinks were served. Our waitress was as nice as can be, I wish I could remember her name, however it seemed as if she was the only person working in the bar besides the staff behind the bar, and unfortunately I think that’s what slowed the service. After finally ordering, our waitress came back and told us the menu had been limited to certain foods only (I guess they close half the kitchen at 10pm afterword’s only leave a selection of "fried foods" open to their guests). This would have been fine if we were told about this prior to ordering (even thou we had arrived 30 minutes before the “closing time”). I use to work in restaurants and understand completely if you are going to close the kitchen at a certain time, I just feel we should have been told. Around 10:30 or so once we were done eating the music became overwhelming loud, serviced slowed to a crawl (our waitress was trying her hardest thou!!!), and the overall atmosphere changed (what resembled an “odd college party” in my opinion). After all said and done, the drinks were ok, the "fried food" was good, service was personable but very slow, and the general atmosphere was tolerable. Since my wife and I moved to the area we have tried several bars/restaurants in Carroll County, this will probably be our last choice to revisit. Maybe it’s just my opinion but I feel as if the place was “mismanaged/undermanaged”. The service was good, but it could have been better, the atmosphere could have been controlled better, and so forth. The place has great potential, however I was not that impressed, and I suggest if you would like a fun night out to explore other options.
