Well, I was totally thrown by my most recent experience at the Abbey while visiting from the very diverse Bay Area! We are in 2008 and I thought being gay was hard enough, but I guess being gay and African American is a problem for the management at the Abbey…..I was told to make sure I stop by the Abbey when I was in LA and to my surprise, I was unwanted! I come from a primarily White American neighborhood and have never been treated the way I was treated there. It goes without saying that I will NEVER patronize this establishment again and neither should you. We live in America…..
04/25/2007 - Outraged
I and my friends had a bad experience at the Abbey last night. After waiting and standing to get into the club for an hour, we finally got into Abbey. We visited the bar and The bartender named Ryan was totally just ignoring us, maybe just having a bad night. The lady came to ask us drinks knew apologized and Willey the Manager came to reason him out. If Abbey wants to stay in business, whoever owns it should make sure the staff is friendly. It just ruins the atmosphere. Drinks are pricey and do not really have that much of a difference to any other bar out there.
