I discovered a charming little food shack serving excellent home-style cooking that reminded me of my mother's meals. The friendly service and reasonable prices make it a must-visit in the Fairhaven/New Bedford area, where I plan to return often.

My daughter and I went to Max's again a couple days ago. The food was characteristically very good. Unfortunately, the two employees, one of them the waitress, did not wear a mask at all! Though the waitress could see that we were wearing a mask except when eating and especially when she approached the table, she didn't take the hint. My daughter asked me not to say anything and I respected her wishes. It's disappointing that COVID is not being taken seriously at Max's.
