I used to eat at the old Busy Bee restaurant from 1964-1966, during my student years at the old Leland Powers School of Theatre, Radio and TV, down on Evans Way behind the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. I lived at 43 Carlton Street when you could walk across the old MTA iron bridge that went across the MTA train tracks and enter Carlton Park. Nothing remains of the bridge, except it's rusting skeleton.
I plan to return to the Busy Bee this summer, taking the Amtrak from Wells, Maine some sunny morning, all the way to North Station, take the Green Line to St. Mary's stop. And walk into the Busy Bee, as my mind goes back 57 years earlier. The help that I knew are either in a nursing home or have gone on to their 'just rewards". I will leave a big cash tip, and write out a check to donate to the Busy Bee, and pray that it stays open for another 57 years. When I leave, I'll have completed my stay in this world, and go into the arms of my Savior. God Bless.
