As a Chicago Dog and Coney Dog enthusiast, I found the Chicago Dog and Chili Dog at Portillo's remarkably authentic, evoking a nostalgic 60s vibe with great service and a clean, classic American diner atmosphere. The plant-based Garden Dog offered a decent vegan option despite some delays and minor preparation issues, while the crinkle-cut fries stood out as delicious and satisfying. The Italian beef sandwich loaded with au jus and giardiniera, the cheeseburgers, and the famous chocolate cake are consistently enjoyable, making the overall dining experience worthwhile, especially when craving classic Chicago flavors.

Used to be great tender beef enough gravy. Plenty of peppers not just 1/2 inch piece charged extra for! Now More bread than beef, dry and tough. That's what happens when they sell. Grew up eatting Portillo in Chicago Villa Park location. Was our favorite place to go, now tried at AZ location won't go back....guess its true you can never go back. Sad in this case.
