The Double Decker Chocolate MoonPie has a fascinating origin story dating back to a Kentucky coal miner's request for a snack as big as the moon in 1917, which led to its creation by Chattanooga Bakery. Consisting of two round graham cookies with a marshmallow center, coated in chocolate, it became a popular and convenient treat during WWII and later introduced flavor varieties in the 60s and 70s. Despite being perceived as a Southern snack, globalization has made them more widely available, reminiscent of a microwavable s'more, offering a quick and satisfying indulgence.
