This old-school ice cream shop in Rice Lake offers friendly service even when busy, along with delicious Cedar Crest ice cream and a fun, nostalgic atmosphere. I enjoyed the grilled cheese and Jersey cow milkshake, and the selection of local goods added a nice touch to the experience. With generous servings, a variety of flavors, and a welcoming staff, this is a fantastic spot to enjoy a treat any time of year.

This great little mom and pop not only serves ice cream but terrific sandwiches and salads, all fresh, healthy (hard to find in Rice Lake) and delicious. Special recommendation: their "strawberry salad" with mixed greens and strawberries; add sliced chicken breast and it's not only tasty but filling. Very reasonable prices. I've tried four of the six sandwich offerings so far and all that I tried were very good. Also the owners and staff are all very friendly. They have some basic outdoor seating, too.

I have not been here, but my parent and uncle/ aunt have in the middle 80s. I just today( 6/19/19) looked up the business. Out of curiosity. My family traveled 6 hrs that afternoon from NW Ohio just to dine at the Pail. They returned that night, right back another 6 hours. They had heard of the Pail's reputation and thought the drive was worth it. They found the food great, although I don't know what was ordered between them.
