Town Topic Sandwich shops remind of the "greasy spoons of the 1950s. My dad and I would go to this type of restaurant when I was a little boy in the early and mid 1950s, when he had to work on Saturdays and I would go with him.
The breakfasts are fried or scrambled eggs with has browns and your choice of sausage, bacon or ham. The pancakes are huge. Lunch is cheeseburgers, pork tenderloin and fries or rings.
Basically it's food that makes a cardiologist cry, but I make it a point to have breakfast and lunch about once a month, to keep things in perspective. The restaurant on Broadway is the oldest, I think, and the one on Baltimore is my favorite.
If you're in your 50s or older and from a strong middle class background, these restaurants will bring back memories.
