For a recent wine tasting event, I was tasked with sourcing a Semillon grape wine to share with a group of wine enthusiasts. After a quick online search, I came across Stickybeak, a label that caught my attention. I reached out to the winemaker, Wayne Donaldson, who connected me with Old Bridge Cellars, an importer known for their dedication to quality Australian wines. I received two bottles for our tasting, including a 2010 Brokenwood Semillon from Hunter Valley and a 2009 Stickybeak Semillon Sauvignon Blanc from Sonoma County. The experience of exploring these Semillon wines with the group highlighted the aromatic complexities and unique characteristics of each region's winemaking traditions.
