Today at lunch, I had the pleasure of trying two of Terry Leighton's exceptional wines, the 1998 Livermore Valley Semillon and 1974 Cuvee W (Chardonnay), both grown at Wente in Livermore Valley. The 1998 Semillon was notably complex with distinct notes of melon, grass, and anise, delivering a uniquely full and rich experience from start to finish. Similarly, the 1974 Cuvee W (Chardonnay) offered a thick and silky texture with hints of butter, spice, and ripe pineapple, showcasing the remarkable aging potential of good whites. Uncle Yu's at the Vineyard in downtown Livermore deserves praise for curating such an outstanding selection of wines that truly stand out in their richness and complexity.
