On Ash Wednesday, I chose North End Grill in Kenmore for fish fries, starting with spinach bread that looked appealing but lacked crispiness, followed by a delicious dinner featuring shrimp scampi, broiled lemon wine fish, an ahi tuna fish wrap, and a captain's platter with beer-battered fish and fried shrimp, all served with fresh-cut fries and sides; while the ambiance was festive with Valentine's decorations and friendly service, I appreciated the large menu of pub food options and left satisfied, even bringing home chocolate peanut butter pie, though I noted some minor drawbacks like the absence of scallops in the captain's platter and the need for a warming station for takeout orders.
