The food can be quite good. Service, not so much. Recurring serious problems with getting our order straight caused us to quit going here.

This is a great place to eat. never had any bad food or coffee here and the staff and the owners are friendly and nice.
As for the 2011 review from Marcus Fisher. We have been coming here for years and NEVER EVER met with anything other than Warmth and friendliness. I think Mr. Fisher was having a bad day and needed to blame someone else for his problems.

Great sandwiches for a day at the lake!

My wife and I made our second visit to this restaurant last week. What brought us back was the superb food - fantastic bold and flavorful soups, homemade bread and desserts, great sandwiches, best and freshest salad bar in the Flathead Valley. However, this second visit will be our last, as the proprietress of this establishment leaves much to be desired. As you approach the counter to place your order, you are greeted by a condescending and annoyed smirk and cold silence that rivals the snowfall going on outside. Not a single word of greeting from this young lady - not hello, how are you doing, welcome to my restaurant - nothing but an impression of disdain that you are in her presence. I asked her how her business had done over the year since we last visited, and her response was a very terse "we're still here". Again no smile and a big dose of haughtiness. We ordered our meal with two decaf coffees, and requested a cup of water to go along with it. "We only sell bottled water" was her snide reply. We paid for our meal, and again not a single response from this frigid fish of a restaurant owner - more like we were doing her a favor by being present. No "hope you enjoy your meal", "thanks for dining with us" - no nothing. We gathered our food together from the various coolers that line the place and sat at a table, to there find explicit printed instructions on how we were expected to clean our tables when finished. We then self-served our coffees from the thermos, which was luke warm at best, and flat out cold once you added creamer from the opened quart carton kept in the same coolers. We finished our meals with the tepid coffee, and my wife fixed herself another cup and took it to this woman of no words or emotion. She grumbled that she could make a new pot or reheat the cup in the microwave, emphasizing the latter, to which my wife agreed. After two zappings the coffee was finally warm enough, and the proprietress was spared making a fresh brew even though it was about noon at this time. So, my advise is to skip this place and its snide, haughty, condescending, and better-than-thou proprietor. When you spend $20+ on lunch, you can at least expect a cup of water and warm coffee, can't you, much less some hint of a smile? There are plenty of places to eat in the Flathead Valley - why spend money to be sneered at?

We are total fans of everything grateful bread in Big Fork, Montana...We spent a week sampling the delicious menu and couldn't get enough. We can hardly wait to go back to sample more. We have even weasled a recipe or two for trying to duplicate back home. Thank You Grateful Bread hope to be back soon, looking into Real Estate!
