During a recent road trip through the Black Hills, my friends and I stumbled upon a charming vintage diner in Mullen on our way back home. The cozy atmosphere and friendly service made for a delightful dining experience. Although they didn't have a kid's menu, the server kindly allowed me to grab a lunchable for my son from our cooler. The hearty breakfast prepared by the owner, Bill, was one of the best I've ever had, and the cleanliness of the restaurant reflected the pride they take in their business. I look forward to returning to Big Red's for another delicious meal and recommend it for a taste of authentic small-town America in rural Nebraska.

Pack your lunch when going through the Sand Hills. Not a decent restaurant anywhere in this long long stretch of highway 2, certainly not Reds. Campbells chicken noodle soup and brown iceberg lettuce for starters.
