Driving nearly an hour through the Illinois countryside to dine here is always rewarding, especially on Wednesday nights when the fried chicken special comes with real mashed potatoes, homemade coleslaw, and green beans for just $10. The warm, welcoming atmosphere combined with homemade dishes-like the tender chicken livers, perfectly breaded haystack onions, and hearty vegetable beef soup-makes every visit feel like a comforting, farm-to-table experience crafted with care and genuine hospitality.
