Last weekend my friend and I were there to celebrate our birthdays. We were in a room with 10 to 15 women also celebrating, loudly, so loudly that we couldn't have a conversation easily. Our food came and was excellent. Shortly into the meal, however, someone turned the air conditioning on and the vent, aimed at our table, blew so hard that every light weight thing on our table (napkins, trash, etc..) was literally blown off the table and our food was cooled off immediately. We asked to get take out containers, which we did but then when I tried to pay our bill the wait staff ignored me until my card had been run when the receipt was tossed at me for my signature. I could put up with the noise because the food was so good (before it got quick chilled anyway) but rudeness may just take your restaurant off my list.

This historic Hotel is like stepping back in time!
I loved hearing the history of the Hotel from employees and locals.
St. James is said to be haunted and sightings of Jessie James and his girlfriend Lucinda have been reported many times (this was one of their favorite hotels) but luckily I haven't had that pleasure yet.
The balcony rooms with the gorgeous view of the Alabama River would be my suggestion!
You can see the Edmund Pettit Bridge from your balcony. The food from the Restaurant here is fabulous! The staff and friendly and so entertaining with their stories😊😊
I highly recommend the Hotel and visit to Historic Selma, Al.
