I have been to Thailand many times !!! I also cook Thai food almost every meal !!! This is the most authentic taste of Thai food I have had in awhile !!! This is a must go to for a great meal at a great price !!!

We ate at this restaurant recently when we visited South Lake Tahoe. This review is regarding the fraud that we were a victim of on our visit on 6/19/2010. We paid the bill without looking at the itemized bill carefully but later realized that we should not have incurred more than $80 for the 5 items we had ordered. When we recognized the discrepancy, we called the restaurant the next morning. The personnel who answered the telephone recognized that we were one of the last customers of the previous day. Once we established that they had charged for items we did not order, she admitted to purposeful wrong-doing and in fact tried to defend their fraudulant practice by stating that other members of our race had not tipped them appropriately though we ourselves had tipped them over $12. They readily agreed to cancel the excessive amount but have not done so yet. I want to alert any future customers to carefully look at their bill since it appeared to me that they have done this before and seem to have an established practice to defraud their customers.

My experiences at Thai Recipe have been utterly different from the previous reviewer's. I have a pretty sophisticated palate having come from San Francisco and having been involved with the production of some best-selling cookbooks. I have been to Thai Recipe dozens of times and can't remember anything that I have not liked. Their Spring Rolls are phenominal but there are MANY other dishes that are terrific. I have also never had a problem with the service---it's always been very pleasant and prompt. I generally go for lunch, so perhaps that would make a difference.

We have few enough ethnic restaurants in this area that it pains me to read a negative review, especially when my experience has been so much the opposite. Let's give our restaurants support or we'll have even fewer to choose from!!!

THIS IS A MUST MISS FOR VISITORS AND LOCALS ALIKE!!
The restaurant was nearly deserted on a Saturday night; I should have taken this as an omen! When we got our food it was shockingly bland. Thank goodness we had chili sauce on the table, b/c without it the food tasted like boiled cardboard. This was no surprise, though, since our food arrived within 5 minutes of ordering. They more than likely just pulled the food out of a pot of boiling food and slapped it on a plate. That is certainly all they had time for! I would have waited 30 more minutes for decent food!!
Although there were only two drinks and two entrees they couldn't manage to get our order right. This was strange b/c they did write it down. Asking politely twice to get the correct food was met with bad attitudes and a bowl of boiled veggies. Still, not our order.
At this point we gave up paid and left. What a waste of a lovely evening in beautiful Lake Tahoe!!!
I am just glad I didn't get food poisoning. That is the most positive thing I can say about the experience.
Unless you've been missing in the mountains for weeks and are desperate, avoid this place like the plague!!!!
