Great family restaurant. Reasonable prices and excellent service.

We started our vacation in Tucson with a subplot focus on finding the very best restaurant for biscuits and gravy. The first breakfast restaurant we found was Cappy's. I find it hard to find the words to explain just how glorious the biscuits were...light, fluffy, flaky, floating on a scrumptious sea of sausage gravy that had a great flavor, texture and taste. The plate was as big as Texas, with two unopened, untarnished, pristine biscuits, each the size of your fist, smothered in the delightful sea of gravy that lasted until the very last bite. Cappy's won this travel breakfast epicurean contest, hands down, no questions asked. Others in our travel party had "eggs and tamal". My mother made tamales frequently. I have ordered tamales online. I have had tamales in restaurants across Texas, and elsewhere. But I have never ever had a tamal that was as delicious as Cappy's. I am not sure how they make them, but they have a wonderful, tasteful, unexpected kick at the end that makes you want them more. Is this place good for breakfast? You bet! My only regret is that we couldn't stay longer to try other delights that they may had up their proverbial sleeve before leaving for other parts of Arizona. And by the way, in case you were wondering, the restaurant is unassuming, and the waitresses were efficient, personable and helpful. Truly a great place to eat...and whatever you do, don't skip breakfast!

A real find. The biscuits are fresh clouds that stand up to the slightly peppered gravy. Good food, good people.
