I am continually disappointed. Having been in the restaurant business for over 30 years and having been in management at least 15 years, I have to rate this one of the worst I have seen. When the restaurant has few customers, it takes 5-10 minutes to get a menu. The wait staff (if you can call them that) thinks it is more important to talk with each other and talk than be on the floor waiting on the customers. If it is the end of the night (around 9 PM) they will ignore the customers while sweeping the floor. There is one male waiter that I saw one time serving another table. He never returned the entire evening. He didn't check on drinks, chips, etc. As for the order, whether it is getting the wrong size, omitting things you've ask not be put on, or getting the order correct, it is hit and miss. Where are the managers and what do they do? When I trained wait staff, they had to memorize the menu, know the ingredients in case of allergies, listen to the customer, make sure the customer never had to ask for a drink to be refilled, check on the customer in a nonobtrusive way every 5 minutes. Ask if the customer wanted a dessert, etc. They were to be polite and friendly. Apparently service has gone out the window here. For the prices, the food is not that up to par. I pray that they get a new manager, a new staff, or a life!

We finally decided to give the restaurant a try after frequenting McDonald's due to mediocre reviews. The service was excellent, and the food exceeded our expectations. I often order takeout from the Tex-Mex place in Marlin, and the dishes are consistently delicious and accurate. The service is friendly, the portions are generous, and the prices are reasonable.

I have tolerated the service at the Marlin El Charro for over five years because my wife likes eating there. It never gets better but the food is usually good to very good with some exceptions.
The server/waiter doesn't ask how your day is going only have you decided. Then nothing else is mentioned about your order.
Your order is later simply placed on your table with few or no words spoken. If you're lucky, the server will return to check on you.
Lastly, the check is delivered unless you have to go get it at the checkout counter.

These people have no idea of how to be friendly or appreciate customers. They know me and recognize me but they just don't care.

The service is always great. I had stop going, food wasn't tasty served luke warm, especially breakfast. I love enchiladas, but they still don't offer the tradition red chilli type sauce like most Mexican Restaurants. I recently went back, food was excellent, fajitas especially. I love Mexican food, Glad it's much better. I will return, they've earned my trust again.
