Rated a 2 star (1 star) 'cause I liked the concept of the tostones; they just have to cut the salt...well, read on....
Didn't realize this was still a restaurant due to their sign. The menu was very interesting.
I asked for a sweet vermouth...don't know what Tommy bought over to me but it was NOT sweet vermouth....he FINALLY found it.
Ordered the chicken tostones as an app; they were good except for the SALTY pulled chicken...& you could add just a bit more cumin to your crema. The tostones were good but I could taste the "used" oil the tostones were cooked/fried in...not good.
Had the paella negra, also, SALTY & like soup. One 3" piece of octopus tentacle that was mealy, 3 shrimp, 3 mussels & the chorizo was cut so fine I had to ask where was the chorizo. I've had this dish many times in a couple of different restaurants while in Barcelona. BTW, no chorizo in Barcelona paella but A LOT of seafood...!!!! It is usually served with aioli (always presume it's garlic unless otherwise stated). The first aioli that was bought out had NO garlic at all. I asked for another with garlic; mayo with chopped garlic added this time. Still was not all that. Simple: a lot of garlic, a bit of mayo in a food processor....very simple. In Barcelona they make their own mayo.
I was extremely disappointed with their paella...but I ate it. The rice, despite it has squid ink on it, should still be kind of "fluffy" & NOT in a soup of squid ink.
Very sad. SMH
It's a bit on the high end $$$ for what they serve.
Tommy did not charge me for one sweet vermouth....Thanks.
