This place sucked. Not only did the steaks taste like the had sand sprinkled on top, but the creepy owner kept coming over and talking to us. All my husband and I wanted was to eat in peace but the next thing I know he is making these small, gross looking pizza's for us, clearly trying to show off.
We had the mushroom soup and crabcake for appetizers and both tasted spoiled. The crab cake tasted like bread. Boring side dish selection, would of been better off going to Boston Market for creamed spinach, which by the way, tasted just like it was from Boston Market.

Admittedly spoiled by NYC restaurants, we continue to hunt for some eating options near our country home in northern Sussex County. This week we tried Doc's in Sparta - on our way home to Morris Co on Sat evening. On the plus side, the ambiance was very nice, the chairs were the most comfortable anywhere yet, the pricing was very reasonable and the service team was excellent. The food was fine, just ok. The chopped salad side was very skimpy (come on guys it is just salad.....),the martini was half full (you know that many sins will be forgiven with a whole drink) and the dessert, apple crisp, was way to sweet with a scant amount of apples (it is apple season for goodness sakes). Our entrees, English cut prime rib and tuna, were much better, but were not standouts. For us, this restaurant brings us geographically closer to our 'winter' assortment of 5 star restaurants, so we will be unlikely to make this stop again.

Very impressive restaurant-outstanding food, service and atmosphere. I had a prime rib that was the size of a Flintstone's meal and juicy delicious.
Planning to go back soon for the summer Mojito's served on the outside patio.

Best place in Sussex county hands down. I went and checked them out after I read an article on NJ.com ranking them in the top 10 restaurants in NJ - this place is a heavy hitter. Dry Aged goodness, great vibe, good looking staff ;)

I had a great meal at docs, the server had us laughing so hard. Food was outstanding, its not the cheapest place in the world, but the quality is worth it. You get what you pay far and if you pay well, you eat inreadible

I think you ment increadible? Haha, just playing. Ate at Docs the other night, I agree its a good place. You must have had the expensive steak, my fillet mignon was only $18
