I have been going to the Spanish Tavern in Mountains for over 20 years. It used to be a favorite restaurant for our circle of friends. We always looked forward to ordering lobster at a reasonable price and enjoying a wonderful dinner out with friends.
After the restaurant opened again after Covid restrictions were lifted everything changed. We ordered takeout twice. The quality of the food was no where near what we had come to expect but I attributed that to ordering takeout instead of in restaurant dining. The quantity and quality of the food was very inferior to past meals. When ordering one of our take out orders I requested extra bread and was told by the woman I spoke with that it would cost extra. We were spending almost 150 dollars on food and they wanted to charge us for extra bread?
When I questioned this the woman had a very annoyed attitude and basically said tha hit was their policy.I also requested to have rice instead of potatoes and was told I would have to pay extra for that too.
I decided to give the restaurant another try with indoor dining. The service great as usual but the food was still subpar. My husband's lamb was not cooked correctly and I had duck which was very dry and tough.
I hadn't gone back again for a few months until recently when our friends wanted to go to the Spa nish Tavern for lobster dinner. We were shocked when we saw the twin lobster special was 49 dollars in stuffed and 62 dollars stuffed. No one ordered the whole lobster but some of us ordered a dish of 5 mini lobster tails.I ordered the surf and turf special which consisted of a minute lobster tail and a 6 ounce steak. We were SO disappointed!
The lobster tails were very tough and most likely frozen and not fresh. My steak was also very tough and barely edible. The evening was great because we all enjoyed each other's company but sadly none of us will ever be returning to what used to be our favorite restaurants.
It's very sad that was once such a reliably wonderful
restaurant has become so subpar.

I ordered food from Spanish Tavern. The manager or owner was not helpful at all. She couldn’t care less about the customer. She had a terrible attitude. She was nasty. I called back because the price looked too much. She told me I ordered an extra plate of spinach. I told her why would I order spinach when the dinner comes with spinach. She said I will try change your credit card. What does she mean try. I should pay for something I don’t want I asked to speak to the boss she said I am the boss. She threatened to cancel the order without helping me at all. It was a misunderstanding without her trying to correct it . I never met such a terrible manager or boss. I will be never go back there.

I put down a deposit for a business event a few months before COVID affected all of us. Since then, Monica at Mountainside Spanish Tavern has refused to refund my deposit. It is unthinkable to hold someone's money hostage knowing that the deposit was given when the world was different. You adjust and do the right things - that is good business practice. Add to that, Monica just threatened myself and business colleagues that were involved in bringing her business for this event that she can "put up a fight". So in tough times, rest assured that this "business" will take your money and threaten you just to keep it. It is a shame that people like this are still in business. *** After I posted this review to spare others from my experience Monica called to threaten me. This is a public service announcement - AVOID this business.
