I was at a tasting dinner at Cocina the other night, and I made me sorry that I had never gone there before.
We had the Lumpia Shanghai with ground pork, these are simple fried rice paper 'egg rolls' filled with ground pork, crispy, not greasy and nice.
Mussels cooked in ginger sauce. Huge New Zealand greens in a light briny broth with ginger strips. Pancit Bihonm rice sticks with chicken, very tasty, not too spicy not too sweet. Vegetable Chop Suey Filipino style, a sort of sweet-sour combination of assorted vegetables in a light sauce. The Arroz con Mariscos with a nice combination of shrimp, clams, mussels, and tiny calamari in a fluffy yellow rice (strong seafood background). The pork Menudo (stew) was tasty, but the beef Mechado (stew) was killer with more spice and surprise of a whole baby girkin mixed in. We also had a delicious roast chicken with garlic (which I don't see on the takeout menu) that we were told was 'Puerto Rican' style.

This is a very family restaurant, very very casual. The decor is none existent at this time, it looks a bit cafeteria style. They seem to do a lot of takeout.

While we did not eat from the steam trays, there are a number of items on steam trays. The owners are very nice and I'm sure if you wanted you could have most everything made to order. Stews and roasts, obviously not due to the time. They have a number of dishes that are cooked to order. They do whole roast pig on advance request ($175.00?) for parties. Most items are under $8 with a few up to $15. Menu varies daily.
