Don't listen to the people complaining about the service. The service is fine and the food comes out fast and the prices are great for NYC especially for the quality. BIG portions also

Having arrived on my first visit to the US the key west diner was first place i came upon when i looked for somewhere to eat, I found the food very good and the staff very helpful nothing was too much bother for them. I ended up having breakfast there everyday.

A "classic" diner -- but the service really DOES suck. If I can sit there with an empty coffee cup for thirty (30) minutes and NO ONE ever comes by to re - fill it -- well, what are we going to a diner or a "coffee shop" for?

You have to flag down your waiter for everything from butter, cream, basic stuff, and then, also, the check. I go there, but the tips I leave are minimal.

THE FOOD IS PRETTY GOOD BUT THE SERVICE ISN'T GREAT BUT WORSE ARE THE PEOPLE THAT TAKE THE DELIVERY ORDERS ON THE PHONE NOT ONLY DO THEY BARELY SPEAK ENGLISH AND THEY ARE EXTREMELY RUDE.

KEY WEST DINER, GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER.

I have been here lots of times. The service is perfectly fine. The food is quite good for a diner (not a five star restaurant, but it is not supposed to be). The atmosphere is pleasant in a diner-ish way. The prices are reasonable. For breakfast, try the chicken and egg quesadilla or a Belgian waffle with eggs is good too.

Hello,
i come from Hamburg Germany and i stayed in the newton hotel nearby the Key West Diner.
Every Morning i have a breakfirst there and it was very goog.
Excuse me. I also want t write a Review for my german friends :
Das Key West ist eine typische Frühstücksbar wie aus dem Buche beschrieben.
Man bekommt dort fast alles ausser Brötchenund Schwarzbrot.

My friend and I stayed at a hostel on West 914th street and on our first day we didn't know where to go for breakfast! We walked up the road and saw Key West Diner and thought, let's give it a go. We ended up breakfasting there every morning of our 6 day stay! The food was perfectly yummy :)

My travel friend was from Colorado (But has lived in Ireland for a few years), It was my first time in the US and my Diner/American Breakfast experience was limited to seeing them in TV and Film :)

The Key West Diner didn't disappoint, you walk in the door and you feel appreciated, you're welcomed in and taken care of. You're shown to a booth and offered a coffee (or what drink you'd prefer) then when you're ready you give your breakfast order!

Over the 6 days I tried many breakfast options! French Toast with Sausage and Bacon was my favourite, but you have so many more options and IMHO they were all Delicious :)

I'd have loved to have had the time to try the evening menu at the Key West but as we had late starts getting out and about we were too late getting back in the evening to try them.

Maybe when/if I make it back to NY later this year I will :)

With my Review, the ONLY reason I rate the Service low is that a couple of days we were seated at the back of the Diner as they were busy! The food was still great but I only got 1 cup of coffee no body asked us if I wanted a refill

A Minor problem for sure, I'd eat there again and recommend it to my travelling friends :)

Stayed next door at the Hotel Newton and had breakfast at Key West every day. Also called in for take out a few times. Food was spot on, value good and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Not quite sure what the first guy is moaning about, sounds like he's over exagerating to me!

This place has the worst customer service ever. I quit going there 5 years ago after the host accused me of lying when I walked in alone and said I need a table for two (my friend was a few minutes late). I tried again one year after that with my girlfriend and the same host was there being a jerk to everyone again; intentionally screwed up our orders, served us frigid meatloaf with no sides, just had it in for us and probably all the other customers too. Today, 5 years later, I tried it again, met my father there for lunch. Different staff now but they did the exact same thing again. My father got there 3 minutes ahead of me and said he needed a table for two and the host immediately accused him of lying. My father told him he wasn't lying, that his son (me) would be along any moment. The host still refused to seat him and ordered my dad to the counter until I arrived. As soon as I did so the host came running over and told us we'd have to both wait at the counter until a table became available. Meanwhile the line was getting longer and longer and we weren't being counted because the host apparently forgot about us. Now the freaking counter man comes over and starts telling us we have to get up and wait in line if we want to be seated and that the elderly host "is new" and told us the wrong thing. Then how about straightening out the so-called "new guy" and telling him this rather than yelling at the customers and blaming us? "Fine," I said, "we're ahead of all these other people who've come in the door so we'll take the next table." He told us that was our problem. "I have a better idea," I told him loud enough for everyone to hear, "why don't we find a better restaurant?" We walked out, won't be back, no way, no how. I don't know how this joint stays in business. Go someplace different people, there are much cooler diners on the Upper West Side.

this place is the best diner in nyc, it is cheap, friendly very clean and easily accessible from the Subway. The food was excellent on the various occasions that we ate at this when visiting NYC. I would recommend the Lumber Jack for breakfast and burgers for lunch, if you are looking for a desert I would suggest the apple pie or the cheesecake, but everything on the menu is lovely and very very cheap for the quality & portion sizes.
